Here are some examples of my writing some of which have been published or broadcast. See Biography for details.
Miniature
She lifted the flat metal catch
and opened the wall
to reveal all the front rooms.
A woman didn’t expect to see
all her curtains at the same time.
Nothing matched.
Upstairs there were tiny beds and dressingtables.
Coathangers. Hairbrushes.
Earrings.
She reached in downstairs
and pushed the doors closed
with her finger.
She gently teased back
the sliding doors in the living room
with her nail but still couldn’t
reach the back door to close it.
In her bedroom her books,
print now too small to read,
were cast about in the wind.
Even the ones on the bedside table
lay open as if they didn’t matter.
Her douvet,
down and duck,
lay in the front garden,
tangled up in the rose bushes.
Thorns piercing.
Feathers pinned
unexpectedly to cotton.
She plucked up the douvet,
fluffed it up with her fingers,
blew more air into it,
and returned it to her bed.
She closed the front of the house
and tried to go home.
